Today, we officially honor the men and women who have served in our armed forces with the observance of Veterans Day. At our Metal Trades Councils around the country, many of our current members are veterans. We also have the unique honor of working side-by-side with both active and retired members from every branch of military service.
It’s a great honor that the work we do at many of our employer locations serves our active military and supports them in their fight to protect our nation. In many ways, we are an extension of our military.
On behalf of the officers, staff and members of our 17 affiliated National and International unions, I extend a heartfelt thank you to all our veterans, the courageous men and women who selflessly work to protect American lives and liberties. I promise that we will continue to honor you in the work that we do. We will fight for you and all veterans who return from service to receive proper medical care and benefits; we will fight to create and preserve middle class jobs for you and your family; and we will fight to ensure you receive the dignity and respect you deserve both on and off the job.
God bless America, and God bless our veterans.
