The Department is pleased to announce that Hanford Atomic Metal Trades Council has also negotiated a historic and ground breaking new five-year contract which includes unprecedented wage increases.
The HAMTC negotiating committee reports that its members will receive a seven percent general wage increase retroactive to November 14, 2022. HAMTC says represented employees will also receive an additional 4.5 percent increase in November 2023, and another 3.5 percent increase in November 2024. The negotiating committee was able to maintain the current benefit plan designs and associated employee contribution rates for United Healthcare (UHC), Delta Dental of Washington, and Willamette Dental for the duration of the contract. However, the current contract between the employer and Kaiser is projected to be subject to competitive bids in May of 2024. The council vows to return to the bargaining table to obtain favorable terms for members currently covered under Kaiser.
Other contract highlights include an increased shift differential of $1.50 per hour for shift workers with improved contract language regarding workday and workweek definitions to help clarify overtime calculations.
The contract is subject to a limited wage and benefit reopener after year three.
