Washington, DC – It is with great sadness that the Metal Trades Department, AFL-CIO, mourn the loss of two members of the Hawaii Federal Employees Metal Trades Council (HFEMTC) who succumbed to their injuries as a result of yesterday’s shooting at the Pearl Harbor Joint Naval Base. We pray for the third victim, also a member, who is currently recovering from his injuries.

Our thoughts and prayers for strength and aloha are with the families and friends of the victims. Our Hawaii Metal Trades Council is a tight knit community. The repercussions of this senseless tragedy will surely be felt for a long time to come. May God bless the victims and their families and provide comfort to our union brothers and sisters at this difficult time. Federal workers are the backbone of our country. They deserve to be safe at work.
